SYL JOHNSON GOES MELLOW ...

mellowd2Soul veteran SYL JOHNSON is about to resurrect his famed Twinight label with an album on Aussie soul singer MELLOW D. SYL first came across the lady (real name MELODY WHITTLE) when she worked as a backing singer on JOHNSON'S last Asian tour and he was so impressed that he decided to record her. There's an album in the pipeline – tentatively (and bravely) titled 'The Rebirth Of Soul' - but in the meantime two tracks are already available via CD Baby. They are excellent versions of JACKIE ROSS'S 'Selfish One' and BARBARA ACKLIN'S 'Love Makes A Woman' - both recorded in glorious analogue and with real instruments. Sharp-eared listeners will be able to pick out SYL on guitar.
